Where you grew up doing your sport
Naperville, Illinois
How you got into the sport:
I began playing volleyball at Kennedy Junior High School in 7th grade and fell in love with the game while training for six years at the Sports Performance Volleyball Club.
Who were your role models, or are your role models.
I grew up watching Michael Jordan revolutionize the sport of basketball, as a Chicago sports fanatic I still think back to the years of the six peat for inspiration. I also have a passion for football; Walter Payton is an all time favorite. John Wooden for his life and coaching insights; Pat Summit is also an inspiration as a phenomenal female coach.
What you want to do in the future with the sport:
The attention that Misty May and Kerri Walsh have brought to the sport of beach volleyball is amazing for young girls today. I would like to help introduce Midwest players to the beach game at a younger age and give them the opportunities to compete and learn that game.
What you want to do in the future with your career goals or other aspirations:
I want to be a main draw player on the AVP tour and compete internationally on the FIVB Tour.
Where you’d want to go if you could travel anywhere in the world, and what you would do there:
I loved living in Spain and would like to spend a summer traveling the country. The urban side of me cannot wait to travel to Amsterdam, Paris and Milan to shop, experience the history, sites, enjoy the cafes and local cuisine.. The beach goer in me is itching to visit Brazil and Australia to play volleyball and Tahiti to relax for vacation.
Your favorite maneuver or signature move:
I love the cobra (performed by scrunching your finer tips together as tight as possible and poking the ball with your finger tips) and the skyball (have yet do serve a skyball in a match).
The most memorable surf session, tournament, or something you did in the sport:
The highlight of my first season was qualifying for the main draw and finally competing against the best players in the country.
Favorite food and/or restaurant:
Favorite food: I always have room for a good cheeseburger, sushi, ahi poke, club sandwich, cobb salad and pita bread with hummus
In Hawaii: Kua Aina’s avacado burger, North Shore’s burger with aioli sauce and coleslaw, Liliha Bakery’s country plate, Bogarts’ breakfast bagels and Sensei’s sushi.
In Chicago: Gibsons steak house, Lou Malnatis Pan Pizza, Portillos hot dogs and chocolate cake shakes, Meson Sabika’s tapas, sangria and paella.
